Ill

‘Tis been a while since my previous article. I’ve got to apologize for that, dear Reader.

But hey, at last I have a chance to write something!

First of all, I’m ill. It’s not fun, especially because I’ve quite a few things to do. Thankfully enough I’m still able to do something (such as writing this) – fever and a sore throat won’t stop me!

Despite being ill, I’m rather happy at the moment. Spring gives me nice chances to take pictures of some unique things. It’s refreshing to see nature coming back alive.

Odd. I’m actually excited about the warm weather and sunshine.

I wonder if I can sleep tonight…

Bright Ideas

“It’s the useless things that matter the most.”

Even though I started Hazy Haven in order to vent from time to time, I feel my photographs could play a bigger role as well. After a brief discussion with a bunch of my friends I decided to make use of my deviantART account and upload a few of my photographs there as well.

As I’ve written earlier, I’ve been photographing for many years. Alas, I seldom show my art to people. The cold fact is that keeping them here in Hazy Haven won’t yield a lot of feedback, especially because I haven’t promoted this site in any way. However, deviantART is a place for artists. “Wouldn’t it be a good idea to upload some of my pictures there as well?”, I thought. After some careful thinking, I decided to go for it – the chances of my photography getting constructive criticism here are quite close to zero.

So, what now? Am I abandoning my fresh site already?

Nope.

Basically enough, what I will do is to upload my best shots in both deviantART and Hazy Haven. Of course, the latter will still be my main thing due to the articles and other interesting things I don’t dare to put on deviantART. What deviantART can offer, though, is feedback (and possibly some new contacts as well).

(Having proof-read my text above, this must be one of those ideas you get when you’re still awake in the middle of the night. The ideas which are far from logical, yet they tend to work out somehow. Perhaps this is one of them?)

Where did the time go?

The picture itself

I found this landscape picture on my HDD. There’s nothing special about it. It’s been shot on a small hill, it’s slightly underexposed, barely interesting and a generally terrible photo. (In my opinion, at least. Far from a brilliant shot.)

However, what caught my attention was the meta tag. It was taken exactly five years ago. Five years. Has it really been that long already? I’m.. I’m having trouble believing it.

So many things have happened within five years. Alas, at first thought a lot of them seem to be bad things. However, there have been a bunch of good (if not brilliant) moments, too. These five years include a lot of travelling, a massive amount of new contacts and quite a few new things I’ve learnt.

But where did the time go? I’ve no idea. Maybe I’ve just concentrated on things that haven’t actually been worth it and in the midst of all that, the time’s managed to escape from me.

The New Wings of Spring

It’s March. I can’t believe it, to be honest. This year has started really fast in my opinion, and I’m not sure if I like it.

Nevertheless, I enjoy spring. Seeing the soil fill up with life is somewhat interesting and refreshing. One could say it’s almost like a preparation for the summer.

So why do I not seem to be able to enjoy it?

I’ve no idea.

There’s so much stuff to do. I’ve got a little car project going on, I need to write a bunch of things (not only for this site) and on top of that I also need to finish a small project for a company. I suppose it all stresses me out.

Perhaps I’m just worrying for nothing.

Gallery is go!

Pink and Fluffy
Country Road

I’ve added a photo gallery to the site. It’s powered by NextGEN, a brilliant gallery plugin for WordPress.

In the following weeks I will upload more pictures I’ve taken during the last 15 years (and if I find older ones, I might upload a few of them too). This little plan of mine means I need to scan a huge amount of pictures taken with my old film camera…

I’m also planning to turn a couple of my recent pictures into high-resolution wallpapers. Alas, I have just few pictures I can use for such a purpose due to my previous digital camera, which was rather terrible in terms of picture quality.

Enjoy the gallery!

Be Here, Be There, Be Everywhere

Station, early morning in July

If the title doesn’t make you panic, I’ll add one more condition: at the same time.

I’ve tried to avoid tight timetables. Alas, I tend to be way too busy every week. It’s mostly my fault, though – lately I’ve been leaving projects hanging until a later date. It’s far from good. Not only it makes me feel like a lazy git, but it’s not productive either.

Despite my busy timetable, I’m starting a new, small project soon. Surprisingly enough, it’s related to photography. The results will be posted here at Hazy Haven. I’m working on adding a gallery to the site, and I hope I’ll manage to add it later this week.

You can see a somewhat terrible photo on the right. It’s taken at 5 am on a chilly morning. Having been awake for 24 hours straight, I began to feel cold and very sleepy as well. I tell you, dear Reader, that was a rough night – but not the roughest I’ve had during my life.

Once upon a time…

… a site was born. That’s it. No more lengthy introductions. No more useless babbling about things I don’t even want to write about. For once I’ll get straight down to business, so dear Reader, try and get used to it.

It has been a rough week. The temperatures have plunged to minus degrees, not to mention it has been snowing as well. Forgive me for saying this, but I really dislike the winter. Especially this one.

Hazy Haven is a site where I can escape the cold. It is the second site I’ve created myself, and also the first one I haven’t advertised anywhere. If there will be visitors, I shall be happy. If not, I’ll keep adding new content for my own joy.

Anyway… dear Reader, I think you might want to know something about me.

Most of the time I try and stay unknown. I don’t like people recognizing me, which is also a reason I have not advertised this site in any way. However, I do make a small exception with this article.

No, you won’t find out how old I am. No, you won’t find out where I live. However, you are about to find out my hobbies include photographing, reading, experimenting with technology and listening to music. Is that enough? You decide.

I write a lot, although I have to admit that my previous project failed due to lack of motivation for writing. I fear it was because of the winter – see, I blame the season again – but it’s a bit too late to cry now. This is a new project and I’m rather motivated to work on it. I’ve studied Literature back in the day, too. I used to read a lot of books, but these days the lack of time tends to make me unable to read them. It’s a great shame.

I have been photographing since I was a little boy. I took my first photos with my old man’s cheap film camera. Needless to say, the photos were not good at all, but the experience lit up a sparkle in my brain, if I may say it like that. I wanted my own camera and a few years later I finally got it. It served me for many years and I still have it, though I’ve recently moved on to digital cameras. Having written that, I miss the film era – who knows, maybe I will grab that old good film camera off the shelf and freshen some old memories?

What else should I mention? A lot of people do not know I enjoy baking. I can also sing, yet I dislike singing in front of a crowd or a bunch of friends. Last but not least, I wear jeans and black shoes.

I think I’ve written myself a brilliant introduction. Leave a comment or bookmark the site if you like what you see. I’ll be back with a new article soon enough!
